The quality and reliability of the manufactured products are the main indicators of the plants work. Enterprises  aspire to the technical development, updating of the range of products, the improvement of reliability and quality of  products.

The activities are aimed at the implementation of new technologies that allow the plants to maintain and strengthen the leading positions on the engineering market. On the territory of the enterprises there is a modern central laboratory. It is certified for making macro and micro analysis of products, chemical and spectral analysis of raw materials and finished products.

For the finished products  testing there is the test laboratory on the territory of “Ukrainian Cardan” Ltd. It is accredited by the National Accreditation Agency  of Ukraine in accordance with the DSTU ISO / IEC 17025: 2006 Standard (ISO / IEC 17025: 2005). All products of the enterprise are certified by the UkrSEPRO system. They are also certified in the Eurasian Union.

The test laboratory makes certification and periodic teststing of driveshafts, drivelines, cardan joints, welding points of cardan products, U-joints of all sizes and other products according to the accreditation area.

Evaluation and monitoring of quality indicators are based on numerous parameters and indicators. The laboratory task is to carry out the necessary tests for the timely detection of violations. It allows to reduce the percentage of rejection  and increase the production of high-quality parts.

QAD specialists control blanks and components at each stage of production.

There is a quality standard for all kinds of products.

The central plant laboratory (CPL) is  engaged in the incoming control of the purchased materials, blanks and components which subsequently fed into production. During production there is a constant quality monitoring of products, where CPL participates if necessary. CPL carries out the following types of tests: mechanical, metallographic, chemical, etc. It carries out linear and metrological measurements.

Mechanical tests determine yield strength, ultimate strength, reduction and elongation. Testing machine ZD 10/90 (from 0 to 10 tons) is used for this purpose. Pendulum testing device KM-30 determines toughness (from 0 to 30 kgf*m).

The hardness of metals is an important parameter.  It is measured in the metallographic laboratory by hardness testers: Brinell TБ 5004 130-450 HB / HB; Rockwell TK-2M 20 ÷ 70 HRC / HRC; Vickers.

The metallographic microscope NEOPHOT-21, MMP-4 determines the depth of the decarburized layer, the grain size, microstructure, carbide heterogeneity, cemented layer thickness and layer thickness of the high frequency current.

The chemical laboratory analysis identify the chemical elements by chemical method according to the relevant state standards. Express analyzer AN-7529 testes carbon and sulfur.

At the stage of metal input “Chernigov Forging Plant” Ltd. carries out the control of chemical, mechanical parameters of the raw materials which are specified in the supplier’s specification.

At the hot forging stage the temperature of the blanks is being constantly monitored by an optical pyrometer. At the end of stage geometric dimensions are being monitored by the universal devices.

Heat treatment of forgings is carried out in the modernized thermal system “Aichelin” whose program independently maintains the specified parameters and displays them on the operator control panel.

After cleaning in the shot blasting machines, the forgings are being inspected  100% visually and if necessary

  • Control of mechanical properties, hardness of forgings;
  • Magnetic defectoscopyby the device RG-71, МД 12 ПШ;
  • Analysis of microstructure of forgings

are carried out too.

Quality management is a complex process and the responsibility for the work is very high. Parameters that are being measured in tests have a great impact on the safety of life and environment.
